Dove # Choose Beautiful

A question was made in the video that was created by "Dove '', that made people choose which pathway to go through. Either average or beautiful. At the beginning of the video, it developed anger inside of me because why would they display that there are two categories of people "beautiful" and ''average". It is so heartbreaking that most of the people passed through the average door. It is so sad knowing that people think that they are like everybody and that they are no better. Everybody is unique and different in his/her own way. There is no average, and if there was one, then there would have never been people who created new inventions. It is just a physical appearance, which was never meant to describe someone's personality. The most important feature is what is in the heart. Our inner jewel is what identifies us as humans. It even said in the Disney movie Aladdin, "Sometimes we only see how people are different from us. But if you look hard enough, you can see how much we're all alike." We just need to look deeper and the warmest and sweetest hearts will be found.

In the article, "The Beguiling Truth About Beauty", by Carlin Flora, has made a very important point that until now people can't understand. It said, "The easiest way to influence how others view you is to demonstrate that you like them, say Ann Demarais and Valerie White, psychologists and authors of First Impressions: What You Don't Know About How Others See You. If you express interest in what others say, or smile and lightly touch their arm, they will likely feel flattered, comfortable around you and even more attracted to you. A person who finds you likeable will probably never notice your imperfections—besides, no one is as interested in your bald head or fleshy thighs as you are." Hence what really matters to people was how they were treated not by how they looked. Even if we have undesirable features, people would only pay attention to how you speak and how you interact.

It was also said in the video, "I walked into that door which said average and I didn't feel really good after that because obviously I had rated myself and average and nobody else." Even if there were no people commenting nor judging, we still feel that people are talking about us. We are the ones who judge ourselves, we are the ones who think that we will never be the best. We will always underestimate ourselves. If it was for appearance, then how did these old couples last even though beauty doesn't last. It is all about the heart. It was also said, by a Scottish proverb, "Do not by appearances; a rich heart may be under a poor coat." Therefore, look into someone's heart before looking at their appearances because it never says anything about them at all. It also said in the movie Aladdin, "I made you look like a prince. But I didn't change anything on the inside." Changing looks will never change an amazing heart. The same person will still be there, yet it will be more insecure.

It is always said to be thankful for what you have because there are a lot of people that are just wishing for what you have. There might be a very beautiful girl, yet she has suffered abuse and her parents hated her, used her and took advantage of her. This beautiful girl would rather be poor and ugly and have a loving family rather than money and beauty. It was said by Oprah Winfrey, " Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough." Be thankful for your life, you should enjoy every single minute of it. You can not change our body without hurting ourselves. Even if you had surgeries, you will still be judged of how you changed and how you were beautiful before.

Yet, this video gave the women courage to show the world and to believe that they are beautiful and unique. They are brave to stand out. They have shown the world who they really are. Even the girl said, "It was quite a triumphant feeling, it was like telling the world I think I am beautiful." The only problem in it, is that she thinks. Yet she is beautiful. An important point to be proven, people's opinions do not define anyone nor should it matter. It even said in the Movie Aladdin, " Does it matter what I think?" So why don't we believe in ourselves? Without that feeling, we will never reach any kind of happiness. "Always believe in yourself. No matter who's around you being negative or thrusting negative energy at you, totally block it off. Because whatever you believe, you become." - Michael Jackson.
